Make your application worse?

Does retaking 2-3 GCSEs make your application seem worse for competitive courses like dentistry at gcse heavy unis like KCL/QMUL ?

I heard that it depends on what the circumstance was for you resitting that certain GCSE. If there is a valid reason then i think it gets taken into consideration. As well depending on the subject you have to retake and what you did end up getting. But many unis look more towards the A- Levels than the GCSEs so i don't think it should matter too much if the rest of your application is good
