wsgg, i'll give my input on this; yeah kcl were releasing batches of rooms for their residences as well as intercollegiate halls and accomms operated by scape and unite students etc. from only a few months back in batches commonly between 9-11am on portal, so do be checkin round between these times. but do check all times though anyway; frequency roughly every 2-3 hours (but don't make it a compulsive taskk Ik it's long and mundane so don't feel the need to do it all the time I'll explain at the end). as of right now currently, as it stands, rooms have still been coming out but it's been very, slowly, and minimal as people have been booking and stuff, changing etc.– you can only change once too. as for SSA and GDSA, these end to be the very popular ones due to the location to strand+waterloo and guy's campus respectively, and cost-wise too, so they unfortunately are very scarce now– BUT, not, entirely, booked up because if you check out this forum
https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=7454737 most recently, I think someone was able to get SSA and there's also a couple of GDSA I can see on my portal rn:

are you also eligible for KAAS/applied for it though? because if so then the portal that displays is different for those that are non-kaas I believe; I wasn't eligible for kaas so this is why I see this but for those who are kaas I think GDSA doesn't have any vacancies atm
what your friend said however is 100% correct– so don't fret, if you don't see anything even if it's for a while. on results day, some people will decide not to go to kcl in the end and feel that they may be better off at their insurance; others may not meet the required grades for kcl and would lose their place and hence their room that way; others may even want to switch out of their old room to different ones and so, all of this frees up not plenty but definitely a considerable amount of rooms at the different residences still, yhhh 100, 100. to check when they would release that, I would say definitely in the
morning; times around 08:00–
09:00 and onwards but really as early as possible keep on refreshing because as the clearing hotlines open and ucas updates people's grades and university confirmation, other people are waiting to do the same thing and so it is really a first come–first served type of thing, so umm, yhh don't worry too much at all if you don't see SSA or GDSA come up rn. results day (Thursday 15th August) will be your best shot if otherwise– but go on the portal early because that morning will be a fast race still if it has to come to that, and tho I'm hopeful you'll be able to find a room before then, remember it's minor either way alrr
hope this helps💫🔵
