Eligibilty Criteria for Conversion Courses in Psychology in the United Kingdom

Hello,

While going through the eligibility criteria for MSC Psychology(Conversion) course, I noticed the requirement for 'GCSE Maths/English'. This is different for different countries and relates class X score of Maths and English. This is what I got to understand.

Can anyone please help me get the clarity on this criteria?
Also, why only some universities ask for this criteria and not everyone else?
Does it have any relevance with the course content? I mean if 'GCSE Maths' scores are considered, then does it imply that the programme will have more of mathematical content?

Please share your insights, thank you.

Hi there,

Its probably worth asking about what the equivalent to GCSE Maths and English is, to each university. If Cardiff is one of universities you were looking at, I'd be happy to share a contact for you to ask this. If not, I'm sure each university will have contact information to ask this

I cannot vouch for universities that don't ask for this requirement, but there is quite a bit of statistics and essay writing in the course, which is why they ask for a basic level of english and maths. For example, we learn different statistical methods as it is relevant to research design in psychological research.

I hope that helps!
