Extracurriculars

I've recently achieved my bronze DofE, and I am looking for a new challenge and way to expand my skills set.
I don't have a lot of hobbies, but I would really love to try something new. I also don't do anything outside of school. However, I would like to start.
I've been thinking of starting learning a music a musical instrument. However, that has proved too expensive.
I've also been considering acting lessons.
I'm also thinking of doing DofE silver next year.
I'd over to hear any recommendations and whether you would recommend DofE Silver.
Thank you for all replies.

Hey!

I would say you should definitely go on to do DofE Silver as it still implants a nice experience to go out and explore the challenges and opportunities that come your way.

I have some friends doing DofE Silver just as I am typing this and I can tell you that it is exhausting but worth it - as they are experimenting and experiencing what it is like to navigate and look after themselves!

Also, go on and try different hobbies, sports, and opportunities (like you considering acting lessons!) - it’s great to involve yourself in different categories to bring new experiences in your horizons.

Hope you’re having a wonderful day!

I know it may sound silly, but I've been worried that 14 is too late to start something new. Do you still think that I have enough time to start a sport, or acting or music, or something and be able to become good at it, maybe even professionally?
Thank you for your advising me about FofE as well. I'm strongly considering it because I really enjoyed Bronze even though it was difficult.
Thank you 😊

It is not too late to start something new at this age! I’m 16 and have started doing new things like learning badminton, the drums, volunteering as a merchandise designer, etc… I think I’m getting the hang of these new skills I’m learning!
We can never really say how well we will become great at a skill without trying so yes, you could even do them professionally.

Hope everything turns out well!
