Hello Haya, I'm from Canada and planning to apply for 2025 entry. Is there any minimum age limit. I will be 17 when I join the school in September 2025 .

Hi @kathuria !

My name is Aashlesha and I am an international final year medic at Nottingham. I know it varies from university to university so I would double check on the university websites.

For University of Nottingham, the minimum age requirement as stated on the website is, "For our undergraduate courses, you must be 17 or older by 1 September of the year you'll begin your course to be considered. If you're an international applicant and under 18, you'll need a guardian in the UK." You can find this information on this page of the UoN website.

Similarly, if you check on the medicine application website pages for other universities, hopefully it should detail their minimum age requirements.

Hope that helps and feel free to ask any other questions!

Good luck with your application,
Aashlesha

Medical schools in Scotland and Northern Ireland accepts 17 years old. Most English medical schools require the student to be 18 upon entry. Nottinham accepts 17 years old. Sheffield accepts 17 years old but you need to turn 18 by the end of December. The age reuirement is listed on the websites of the various medical schools.

Anyone know if a UCAT score of 3300/Band 1 Predicted 3 x A* is good enough to apply to Cambridge, UCL and Imperial?

Hi!

I'm really confused about how to translate my grades, as I'm coming from an American school, so no GCSEs or equivalent middle-year program exams. I've contacted universities, but what I've gotten back is "we don't look at applications individually sry".

If an A* is 90%, and my school's A- grade (maximum A, not A+) is equal to 91.5%, is A- and A+ valid? Or are American schools raised to a higher standard, like 95%, because our curriculum is considered to be at a lower level? I've also taken a mix of Honours and non Honours classes throughout high school, so is that considered?

I'm so lost 😭

There is no universal conversion table. Each medical school will have their own criteria which non Standard qualification they will accept. It is usually listed on their websites. You have to sit for the UCAT and compete with other international students.

Hello! I am an international applicant who scored 2900 B2 in the UCAT - I would like to apply to Imperial, however, would it be too ambitious?

Imperial is using UCAT for the first time this year but I suspect that the cut off will be very high.
Hi I am an international applicant who scored 2890 B3 in the UCAT.

I am planning to apply to Southampton, Sheffield, Newcastle and Leicester.

Would this be fine?

I have also looked at the cutoffs and southampton and leicester are fine for me but newcastle and sheffield might be a bit risky, with sheffield having 2870 cutoff in 2023 while the cutoff for newcastle is unknown for 2024 (the lowest ive seen is 2910 b1).

Anyone know the cutoff for sheffield and newcastle for 2024?

GCSEs: 10x 9s 1 btec distinction star
A level predicted: A* A* A
good work experiences

Southampton and Leicester should be fine as they do not consider SJT. Sheffield cut off for international was 2840 in 2023 and 2870 in 2024 and they use SJT for post interview score do it is a bit risky. Newcastle is changing the scoring system to include GCSE for 2025 entry and they only use SJT to exclude band 4, so you are probably ok.
for internationals newcastle does not consider gcses, instead the scoring is purely based on ucat which is out of 60, and post interview scoring will be out of 50 with 3 marks being allocated for sjt (which i will score 1). Do u reckon its fine?

That was the previous scoring system. they are changing the scoring system this year.

I just checked. You are right. Newcastle has changed the admission policy for home students only for 2025. International are still ranked according to UCAT only. In which case it may be slightly risky..

That is an expression for an emphatic yes. 3300 is the top 1% of UCAT takers. If they don’t interview you, who are they going to interview?
