is Foundation Year a replacement for Access to Higher Education/ A-Levels?

Hi, Thank you for your attention.

I did my high school in a foreign country and it's been about 10 years since my high school diploma's issue date. I've read that time is limited after you do your A levels and if the gap gets too long you need to refresh. is that correct? in my case, I need to do A-levels or Access to Higher Education? Alternatively can I only do a foundation course instead? What do you think it's best? Thank you!

Back when I considered career switch I decided to do a foundation year as I didn't have appropriate A-levels for the engineering degree. I also was a mature student with quite a few years education gap, so foundation year was the perfect solution for me.
It's actually great, they prepare you completely for the upcoming degree course to which you get enrolled automatically if you pass the foundation year exams, which are not that challenging.
