Part-time Physiotherapy YSJ

Hi,

I’m looking to study Physiotherapy degree at YSJ as a part-time mature student but I’m wondering if anyone has done this, specifically at YSJ so I could see what a part-time timetable looks like?

I’ve emailed the uni but they’re unfortunately unable to help at this moment in time due to it being too early before timetables are produced.

If you haven’t studied at YSJ, but have at another uni part-time, what did your timetable look like?

I’m a shift worker and really need to keep this job to be able to pay for my rent, food etc and just want a picture of what it could look like part-time.

Hi,
The part time BSc (hons) in Physiotherapy is taken over six years instead of three. I have linked the course page below which outlines how the structure of the course in regards to compulsory modules, when taken part time. I have also put the link for the programme specification, which details what each module you take in each year and whether its compulsory or optional.

As the course is a health based course, you are probably eligible for the NHS bursary. As you would be taking the course part time, the amount you may receive might be lower than if you were full time. I have left a link below for you, so you can have a little look and see if you meet the criteria. NHS Learning Support Fund (LSF) | NHSBSA

We also have open days coming up over summer, which would be a good time to ask the lecturers about how many contact hours on campus you may have each year. Although they won't be able to give you an exact timetable, it could give you a good idea of how much time you'll be at uni and placement.

The next open days are:
Tuesday 2 July 2024, 9.15am to 3.30pm
Saturday 17 August 2024, 9.15am to 3.30pm

A lot of health students with placements, are also student ambassadors, as its a well paid job and is very flexible around studies. Student Ambassadors are usually hired in September/October each academic year.

Hope this helps,
