Best Birmingham Accommodation?

I will be studying at the University of Birmingham next in September so i want to find out what the best accommodation is in Birmingham. I'm looking for an en-suite studio flat and have come across Studios 51 and Mason Halls in The Vale Village on campus. Has anyone stayed here? Are they any good?

What accommodation would you recommend?

I'm at Aston but I know that Studio 51 are really expensive. Most Unite accomm is from £100+.

I never went I'm afraid cos I decided I wouldn't be able to afford it. Unite seem to be ok from what I've heard. Sometimes they're a bit crap with organisation and help.

Best accom at U of B is Shackleton or Mason. But there are some pretty fine other halls

Shackleton is the most convenient, as the canteen, convenience store, bar and cashpoint are all located there.

I like at Unite! I like at Curzon Gateway it's awesome! The price will be £107 a week next year though :frown:

True. IQ5 is also convenient for amenities - 24hr Tesco, broad street, canal, train station, town centre.

Yes but Curzon Gateway is of little use for a UoB student unless you fancy a cross-city commute every morning. No thanks.

The nicest accommodation in the Vale area [the hub of all activity] is shackleton and mason. The tennis courts are fine. The problem is going shopping for food.

Victoria halls is about 5 minutes from the campus so it is easy to go to aldi or tesco and buy food. The problem is that you get £200 for heating/water/electricity (Can't remember which two) for a year and you have to pay more.

IQ5, The Beeches, QHC are good as you can walk to any the of major clubs on broad street or oceana within 10-15mins and it is relatively safe because other students are walking back all the time. The bad point is the fact you have to catch the train or bus to uni.

Think about if you want en-suite and huge rooms is it really worth the price?
You will be sharing a bathroom next year in MUCH worse conditions (the houses in selly oak aren't great) so why bother in first year?
Just a thought....

If you've recently won the lottery, then it's not bad.

Otherwise, it's about double what you'd pay for other accomodation.
