Accessibility aids recommendations

I'm a mature (28) student I guess, but I finally have the option to be able to do higher education! I'll be doing art and design (Fashion) and I'm super excited to start!
A google search never brings up the great stuff soooooo..

What accessibility aids do you wish you had when you started Uni?
Recommendations on amazing gadgets etc?
specifically anything that would help me on my course (sewing, drawing, cutting etc)

Personally I am - Dyslexia, ASD, Hyper-Mobility spectrum disorder, Fibromyalgia ...
My mobility and stability isn't great and I often use a cane/crutches or a rollator and a few things such as spring assisted fabric scissors and thread snips with a thumb hole, a pen grip to make my pen/pencil thicker and easier to hold and use)
I would LOVE to hear about great aids and gadgets to make our lives easier! :h:

Hi! I'm not sure if this will help completely, but have you considered applying for Disabled Students Allowance (DSA)? I applied and had my study needs assessment on the 14th of June and oh my goodness it was so helpful. I has ASD and my assessor suggested so many different things that will definitely be extremely useful for my university experience. They also help with physical disabilities too. If you haven't considered applying, I would definitely look into it as I think it may help a lot!!

I genuinely didn't realise how much I struggles academically before my assessment, but I had never felt so understood or validated either. And some of the things suggested I never would've thought of either!

Hiya!

I have hEDS, fibro and anxiety, and I'm currently in my third year so there's a bunch of stuff I've learnt!

For one, get in contact with the support team. They can often help you with special requirements. Another thing I'd recommend if you're drawing a lot is getting a support glove. K-tape can also help, but it's good to recommend a doctor before this!

Also, if you're going to be out and about a lot, get something to make your walking aid handle feel more comfortable. The biggest issue for me was just that it was too hard and uncomfortable after a while.

Good luck, and I wish you the best! You got this.
