Yr11 not going to any taster days??

hi this is mainly towards current sixth formers and maybe other year 11 students in my position right now, is it important to go to college/sixth form taster days?? One of my sixth forms i've applied for i also applied for the taster days but was unable to go due to a last minute holiday but now i can't go to any? So i'm just curious as to if taster days are REALLY important in order to get into college?

Hi, not a current sixth former or year 11 here but I’ve just finished my first year of my bachelors degree. However I do clearly remember my college experience and have a sibling just about to start sixth form.

The idea of a taster day is so that you can get a feel and a ‘taste’ of what it would be like to study at that institution and your chosen course. This shouldn’t impact your ability to get into college but they are a good way to decide whether a course or institution is for you. It’s important to know you’re making choices that are right for you, and picking an institution which you like definitely makes your experience easier. However, it isn’t the end of the world if you can’t attend any of these as many colleges and sixth forms provide a lot of information online and some run events through the summer. Maybe it would be worth calling the sixth form you have applied for and seeing if they could put you in contact with someone who could give you further information. Hope this helps, best of luck with sixth form! 🙂
