Oxbridge vs Dyson degree apprenticeship

Hello. I’m aware the question of “Oxbridge vs degree apprenticeship” comes up frequently but I’ve never seen it compared to Dyson. Dyson is a reputable brand that will give a lot of money upon completion (as said by the employees themselves on the UCAS event), quite prestigious, and of course you also get your experience

I was planning to do a Dyson degree apprenticeship, advance on it and THEN maybe later in life apply to Oxbridge Engineering. I’m open to starting university later in life even if it’s unnecessary. I don’t wanna miss out on working to apply my knowledge (degree apprenticeship) hence doing the apprenticeship before uni is certainly a choice, as I won’t be able to do said apprenticeship after uni

However….I also would prefer starting uni once I finish A Levels

What do you think?

I would imagine no more than other degree apprenticeships tbh. Wages here are kind of doodoo for most industries.

Honestly it's up to you. I'd say take the apprenticeship as the work experience helps you in the long run.

if you're talking about the dyson institute, it's kinda like half uni half work kinda thing and you get a degree at the end so wouldn't need to go to uni if you were doing a degree apprenticeship. nothing is stopping you from applying to both as you can apply to ucas and apprenticeships separately.
Id look at one of the virtual open days for dyson or at least properly go through the website, as for the salary it's one of the higher end ones i've seen for degree apprenticeships so it is good but also base your decision on what you'd enjoy.
At the end of the day applying to both at the same time would give you more options (especially because both are extremely competitive opportunities) and if you do end up getting offers for both you will be able to choose

If you want money, youre far more likely to go into a higher paying job from oxbridge instead of dyson. Not much benefit in doing an apprenticeship and then oxbridge.

This is the kind of decision you should make once you get an offer from both, by the looks of it you havent even applied to either.

I did an engineering degree apprenticeship with a very prestigious company.

As an alternative to an undergraduate degree, it’s far superior.

If you want to do a masters after at oxbridge, It should set you up fine if you also have good A levels. I was offered a salary paid block-release PhD in Germany, skipping my masters, because my employer had trained me to a level that I was already publishing research during my apprenticeship anyway.

Saying that, doing a prestigious degree apprenticeship might mean it’s not necessarily oxbridge doing the relevant research tied to your career/development goals. I’d only personally go if I was looking to shift research focus or go into consulting.
