Geography NEA

Hi, I've started my geography NEA and struggling to come up with a decent title, so far, I have "To what extent has the redevelopment of (specific place) influenced public perception and the use of public space in (town)?" But I think this may be too vague and data collection methods might rely too much on qualitative data. Any help is greatly appreciated

I should add that I want to look into the crime statistics as this area has seen a rise in anti-social behavior but is also a central travel hub and I would like to explore if the rise in these cases is due to the redevelopment or the high footfall

It's good that you've gotten some good ideas around what kind of little project you're going into, which is the human geography side. I did Edexcel Geography A-level, so it might not be much help to you.

But from what it looks like, it seems like you picked 'Regeneration' topic? But the overall question is good. It doesn't seem too vague to me, but not sure about the bit where you've added on 'and the use of public space in (town)' because you could pretty much include it in already and link it to your overall question as a sub-question perhaps.

I think you should be fine in finding quantitative data. For example, the 'enviromental quality survey' might be useful with looking around the redeveloped areas and seeing whether or not the area has improved or whether vandalism/ graffiti is seem etc.

Secondary data collection could involve you looking at statistics online where you type in the postcode and it'll show you how many crimes have been committed in the area.

But check with your teachers!!! Because they will help you through this process and they know very well what the examiners are looking for. I'm sure you'll be taught how to collect data from the teachers and the teachers need to confirm if your title is suited to proceed with the investigation in the first place. Ask as many questions and advice as you can to the teachers, but also remember that there is so much they can do to help you since it is an independent investigation.

Hope this helps and gl with you coursework.
