A Level Music for Guitarist

Is electric guitar an appropriate instrument to study Eduqas A Level music with? It was fine for gcse, but I’m not sure whether A Level is as accepting of rock and pop/jazz or if it’s more classical focussed.

Do you play other instruments too? It's a very long time since I did A Level music (2005-2007!) so I'm not aware of the current syllabi requirements - but I do gather (from posts on TSR) that harmonising Bach chorales still forms part of some A Level syllabi. If you don't play the piano or have at least Grade 5/6 theory, that could prove very tricky to navigate...

I play a little bit of piano and I picked up trumpet around a year ago just to learn to read notation for gcse. I’m not good enough at them use them for performing, but I can do the theory side of music to a grade 6 standard, as that’s the part that interests me most and made me want to take it.

Ah OK, so hopefully then you'd find the Bach chorale stuff OK, if you're around Grade 6 theory standard.

Why not ask your teachers about doing A Level music and whether electric guitar is OK for that? They'd be able to tell you and encourage you as appropriate
