EPQ content not allowed to overlap with any A-level subjects?

Hello, today I was told that any aspect of our EPQ is not allowed to overlap with the specification of any of the a-level subjects we are studying. They said that if we write a sentence in our EPQ but we could also write that sentence in an answer to a question for an a-level question then it's not allowed.

I was thinking of doing my EPQ on how social media has life long effects from a young age. However now I am concerned that this would overlap too much with my psychology a-level, especially the 'attachment' topic. Would this be an issue? I am concerned as to how I make my EPQ link to the subject I want to study at uni (psychology) but also not having any overlap with my a-level subjects. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Thank you in advance for any advice.

Hello, yes I read through the subject specifications for the A-Levels and made sure what I was writing for the EPQ didn't overlap with them. There wasn't any extreme ovelap so it was okay :h:

I had a similar question when I was writing my dissertation, I do business and economics a-level and I wasn’t sure if I would be allowed to write about the economy, etc. in my dissertation but it was allowed as I was using my own knowledge basically
