should i apply for law at oxford?

Hiya, I want to apply for law at oxford, yet I am wondering whether my gcse grades will be good enough.
I achieved grades of 8,7,7,7,6,4,4 and an D*.
For my alevels, I will be predicted A*AA or A*A*B.

Do I stand a chance to apply at Oxford?? Would really appreciate some advice and opinions- thank you!

HI there!

Although I do believe your grades are really good in general (congratulations!) The grade 4's may be viewed less favorable, depending on the subjects they are in. However, Oxford considers the context of your educational background and may be more understanding if these grades were in less relevant subjects. I would say apply first. If you get rejected however look for a school that does an oxbridge programme (cambridge + oxford university) which would be a good route considering your predicted grades are A*AA or A*A*B (which is again really good!) many schools now do this which will be good to apply for. Hope this helps and good luck!

Frankly, you would be an outlier for a place with those GGSEs, and would have no chance if predicted A*A*B, absent some strong contextual or other mitigating factors. The standard offer for Law at Oxford is AAA.

to be brutally honest, your gcse grades are not competitive at all, but if your personal statement, lnat and interview are very good then maybe

I think that you need to be realistic. You are unlikely to be a strong candidate for a place to read law at Oxford. Don't worry, there are many other good universities.
