Overlapping end dates masters and PGCE, funding application ?

So I’ve seen online that if the end days overlap then I’m unable to get funding, I’ve also seen sending a postal application with a cover letter is supposedly a way to get ur application to hopefully be accepted. Just wanted to know if this works and if anyone has resolved this issue.

Also with student finance if I was to apply after the masters end date for my pgce would I recive the funding I would get just a bit delayed or would I just not get anything at all?

Hi there,

When day does your old course end and what day does your new course start?

Thanks, Drew

So the official end date for my current course is 20th September and start date for pgce is 4th September. I have been told by the university that once I submit I’m free to do whatever I want but this was told to me via an email and not officially on a letter

I do intend to finish all deadlines and submissions in August well before the start and end date of both courses

Hi there,

If we have your graduation date as the 20th of September and your new course starts on the 4th of September then you will not be eligible for funding due to the overlap.

Thanks, Drew

I see and if I was to apply at a later date would that mean I still won’t get funding or limited?

Also does this affect the bursary that comes with some subjects?

Hi there,

Even if you applied at a later date your Graduation date for the old course would still be the same and the start date for your new course would also still be the same. You would still not be eligible for funding.

Thanks, Drew

Hi there,

Where will you get the bursary from as you would need to speak to them in regards to this.

Thanks, Drew

This would be the teaching department of education bursary

Hi there,

You will need to speak to them in regards to the bursary because they may not give you one as you are not eligible for funding.

Thanks, Drew

heya its me again I just had another question, if I was to withdraw from my masters early and take a exit reward which would conclude my studies then would that allow me to then continue my application for student finance for my pgce as there is no longer an overlap of the course

Hi there, not if the graduation dates overlap. So while you may leave that course early, the course dates itself would remain even though you've left it prior to that date. Thanks, Jason
