Uni of Nottingham - Broadgate accommodation

Hi, just wondering if staying at broadgate would be fine if I took the bus to Jubilee Campus for lectures? Assuming there's a free Hopper bus between there for lecture times.

Also any insights into Broadgate in general are appreciated

Hi,

The 903 hopper bus from uni park brings you straight to jubilee campus which takes around 15mins? I live near jubilee and had lectures on uni park so this is a normal route for me and it's fine. All the hopper buses are also free, you just need to scan your UON ID. They also run pretty frequently on weekdays during term time. There should be more info on that here; https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/sustainability/transport/travellingbetweencampuses/hopper-buses.aspx

I also stayed at Broadgate in my first year and it was pretty decent.

Catering:
t's the only accom that has the 'hall experience' that's self-catered (if this is what you want) - all of the on campus ones are catered.

Location:
It's pretty close to uni park campus but depends which side you're studying on. When i applied it said i was a 5min walk away which is technically true but the science buildings are on the other side of campus so it ended up being a 25min walk. If you're on Jubilee it has easy links to get there anyway with the hopper bus (probably around a 10-15min walk to the bus stop). It's also the closest accom to Beeston (town) which has shops like tesco and sainsburys which is good for the self-catered aspect.

Socialising:
Each flat has 6 rooms so it's a lot easier to get those first steps of interaction compared to catered on campus accoms where you're in a long corridor of everyone (you just have to hope the people you're with are fine but i wouldn't let be a factor against it). The nightlife is also pretty lively as it has a 'hall vibe' (same as on campus catered) which is a lot more reserved in private accommodations like riverside point, st peters park etc. ResX (team of students) also run activities where you can meet other students (although idk many people that actually went to these).

Noise:
A lot of things i read said that Broadgate was pretty loud at night and the walls are extremely thin but this wasn't actually true. You can hear people come back on nights out which isn't actually as loud as expected but during the day it's relatively quiet.

Cost:
Icl it's pretty expensive that's the only negative i have for it but if you're wanting that student 'hall' vibe whilst still having self-catered this is the best option really.

I stayed at Riverside in my 2nd year and as this was a private accom it had much more of a study vibe to it. People still went out at night but this might just be because i applied with friends, idk if many others went with people they met? It was a lot more reserved and i think the demographic was more international students. Overall i preferred riverside point as it was really close to my lectures but still within Lenton (most popular student area in Nottingham) and just catered to a 2nd year study life but i would definitely recommend Broadgate as a first year as it has that student vibe to it and is a lot better for socialising and meeting people.
