Online school for year 13

I want to know, if I can apply for homeschooling. I'm just about finishing year 12 at my school, and have been here since the start at year 7. I don't know if I have the mental strength to stay on at school, or even in this world. I can't focus, and my grades are slipping. I feel so awkward and alone and my last resort is to try homeschooling because maybe I'll be able to actually learn something that way, and get into university like I'd always dreamed. I might have undiagnosed ADHD, depression or social anxiety, or maybe all three. Nobody will help me get tested and seek the medication I might need. What do you think I can do? Is it wise to leave school at this time?

First step is to go and see your GP. Sounds like you’re depressed and if you need meds to help with this, it can take a few weeks for them to kick in.

You're right , i spoke to my head of sixth form and she's recommended i go to see the GP to check me for adhd or autism or maybe social anxiety so i can help therapy. I have also considered i may have depression. Thanks 🙏

It’s the end of the year too. A lot of people feel flat at this time of year, especially when it’s been warm out.
Hi,
The first step you should take is to contact your GP. At current there is a very long wait list for ADHD assessments, I don't know at current how long they are but i was advised to use the 'Right to choose' pathway, which can cut down the long waitlists by quite a lot. I only had to wait roughly 8 weeks for my assessment, through this pathway, although it may be quite a bit longer now as this was in 2021.

The best thing to really do is sit down with your sixth form and see how they can support you in year 13, and discuss whether home schooling or attending sixth form is best for you. It may be helpful to see if the school can put any additional support in place, for when exams are next summer, such as extra time or sitting the exam in a separate room.

Hope this helps,

sorry for the late reply, but thank you so much. I've been off putting talking to my GP about getting tested for adhd cause my mum's been kind of dismissive about me having it, and i also don't know what i would say... but u've given me confidence to do so. I'll also muster up the courage to speak to my sixth forms heads to see what we can do because i'm tired of failing and feeling dumb. Tired of being tired. 💕💕
