Hi guys - I know the entry standards for Pharmacy at UoB are at 66%. Did anyone miss their offer on results day but called up and was still able to get in? Did anyone get lower than their conditional offer and still get accepted anyway ?
In answer to the question posed in the thread title...
I downloaded a list of courses in Clearing from the University of Birmingham web site on results day last year. Pharmacy was not in that list.

What do you mean -"the entry standards for Pharmacy at UoB are at 66%" ?
I know that their pharmacy school is a bit new so the slightly lower entry requirement doesn't surprise. I'm hoping this works in my favour on Results Day 2024 as well as with the fact that it is my firm choice and I have years of volunteering and Pharmacy experience.
Do you realise that it actually doesnt matter where you do an MPharm degree? Its an accredited degree, meaning all courses have the same syllabus, and are essentially 'the same'. The NHS is not going to ask where you went to Uni - and neither will your future patients. There are plenty of Unis that will be in Clearing for MPharm even if Brum isn't.

Was Law on that list if you don’t mind looking for me?
I have no evidence for the list below, but these are the courses which I recorded University of Birmingham as offering via Clearing on A level results day last year:
Education BA (Hons) Education and Sociology BA (Hons) Ancient and Medieval History BA Ancient History BA Classical Literature and Civilisation BA Classics BA Criminology BA Drama and Theatre Arts BA English Language and Linguistics BA English Literature BA English Literature and Creative Writing BA English Literature and Film BA Film and Creative Writing BA Geography BA (Hons) History BA History of Art BA International Relations BA Modern Languages BA Modern Languages with Business Management BA Philosophy BA Philosophy, Religion and Ethics BA Policy, Politics and Economics BA Politics BA Social Anthropology BA Sociology BA Theology and Religion BA Biomedical Science BSc Music Bmus Psychology in Education BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance BSc Biochemistry BSc Biological Sciences BSc Environmental Science BSc Geography BSc Geography and Urban and Regional Planning BSc Geology BSc Geology and Physical Geography BSc Global Environmental Change and Sustainability BSc Human Sciences BSc Medical Biochemistry BSc Psychology BSc Sport, Exercise & Health Sciences BSc Sport, PE and Coaching Science BSc Chemistry BSc Chemistry MSci Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Discovery BSc Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Discovery MSci Dental Hygiene and Therapy BSc Materials Science and Engineering Beng Mathematics BSc Mathematics MSci Natural Sciences BSc / MSci Nursing BNurs - Adult Social Policy BA Social Work BA
Note that University of Birmingham apparently didn't go in into Clearing for 2021 or 2022 entry. Also note that for each of the above, they may have had just one of two spaces available. Making any assumptions about what might be available via Clearing this year based upon the above would not be wise.

Hi, I know they typically don't enter clearing for MPharm at UOB. They did say that if you had firmed them they would consider you even if you didn't quite get your grades (within reason) before looking at someone who did but had not firmed Birmingham.
Was Law on that list if you don’t mind looking for me?
they released the clearing list on the 14 aug and there’s no law clearing and even on results day no law clearing this year . They had Criminology BA and that’s the closest to law.

Yeah that was unlucky. I managed to get into Surrey tho through clearing which is great

yeah i was hoping for UOB as it’s near me but i guess not. I was gonna do a random course and change to law but they strictly do not allow that. Second yr i might try and change. Crazy though how pharmacy was on their but not law

True. If I still want to go there after my 3 years at Surrey I could just do a masters though so it’s not a big deal that we didn’t get in to be fair
the list is gone now for this year. It changes each year. This yr there was courses like biomed, pharmacy, criminology, education, sociology and other similar degrees to these

What was in Clearing last year, for any Uni, will nor tell you that that course or Uni will be in Clearing this year. And remember, 'in Clearing; does not mean 'will accept you below offer grades' - just that that year, they had some spare places they were still trying to fill in August. And - top Unis like Brum will often put courses like Pharm or Law into Clearing for International applicants only.
