Hi there,

I would recommend looking into the Student Ambassador scheme at your university. At CCCU our ambassadors are paid more than the minimum wage, and the work is flexible to work around your studies.

Other options are retail, or hospitality. Again, depending on where you are studying, the options could really vary!
Hello there!
Coventry University student ambassador here!

I was in the same situation as you at the beginning of my second year in university, here are some of the options I considered, and that most of my friends have ended up working in:
On-Campus Jobs:

1.

Library Assistant:
Role: Helping with book checkouts, organizing shelves, and assisting students.
Benefits: Flexible hours, convenient location.

2.

Student Ambassador:
Role: Representing the university at events, giving campus tours, and assisting with open days.
Benefits: Enhances communication and presentation skills.

3.

Research Assistant:
Role: Assisting professors with research projects, data collection, and analysis.
Benefits: Provides relevant academic experience.

4.

Café/Barista Jobs on Campus:
Role: Serving food and drinks, handling cash, and customer service.
Benefits: Flexible shifts, often in line with student schedules.

Off-Campus Jobs:

1.

Retail Assistant:
Role: Working in shops, handling sales, stocking shelves, and customer service.
Benefits: Flexible part-time hours, often with student-friendly employers.

2.

Waiter/Waitress:
Role: Serving food, taking orders, and customer service in restaurants or cafes.
Benefits: Tips can supplement income, and shifts can fit around lectures.

3.

Tutoring:
Role: Providing academic support to school students or fellow university students.
Benefits: Enhances subject knowledge and teaching skills.

4.

Administrative Assistant:
Role: Office work, data entry, filing, and answering phones.
Benefits: Develops organizational and administrative skills.

Online and Freelance Jobs:

1.

Freelance Writing/Editing:
Role: Writing articles, blog posts, or editing content.
Benefits: Flexible, can be done from anywhere.

2.

Virtual Assistant:
Role: Administrative support for businesses or entrepreneurs, such as email management and scheduling.
Benefits: Flexible hours, remote work.

3.

Social Media Management:
Role: Managing social media accounts for businesses, creating content, and engaging with followers.
Benefits: Develops marketing skills and can often be done remotely.

Furthermore, some of my friends have found remote internships and jobs, with flexible hours, however you may want to spend some time job hunting for these kinds of opportunities!

Hope this helps!

Kind Regards,
Bianca (BSc Aviation Management

hi guys im going into second year and my student finance will be lower. any good jobs for uni students?

Hi there @daisyyx , aside from getting the usual retail / FnB part-time jobs, I would recommend checking with your university if they offer any flexible employment schemes such as being a Student Ambassador, internships or working with the Library. Like what the others have mentioned, universities usually pay above minimum wage and offer flexible work arrangements. Hope this helps 🙂 !

I work in the SU bar which was a nice job. Flexible, in the evenings largely, helping your peers enjoy themselves and reasonably well paid
