probably not very much

research those careers and what they entail, try and figure out what you enjoy about that, work out how to phrase that in an interview/cover letter

then do some standard interview prep/targeted learning

Hi @primordial-guard

Don’t put too much pressure on yourself to prepare for these careers yet. However, if you really want to, consider researching what these careers entail, and perhaps see if there are any volunteering/internship roles available in local companies to broaden your knowledge before starting university.

When you get to university, there will be a designated careers team that you can reach out to. They will talk through your options with you and provide support including helping you find any potential part time jobs/work experience/placements.

Hope this helps.

Some things you can do:

read through previous threads by people who got onto the grad schemes and see what they did. I think a common theme is that they were well prepared very early. Every year people post that they hadn't heard of sping weeks before the deadlines for applications passed.

Visit the university careers centre as soon as you can and definitely in your first week there. Make a point to drop in each week to see what you can learn.

Look for opportunities to develop and demonstrate leadership skills.

Create a list in excel of all the firms you plan on applying to, as well as their application deadlines if possible. Create a solid CV and cover letter for a standard IB application and a standard consulting application. Research all the different stages of assessments that you are required to pass during the recruitment processes, if possible do a couple of practice tests.

This way, you're ready to start shooting off your applications as soon as spring week apps open.
