Question about uni entry for Extended Diplomat Computing BTEC

I have achieved a D*D*D in my Computing BTEC, but the course took away my interest in computing a lot. I still want to go to uni, but I do not want to do a computer science bachelor's.

I am really interested in doing business management, but I have a strong feeling that by BTEC will not be suitable as it is a computing course. Do you think the university would be likely to accept me? Here is what they say for the business management entry criteria:

BTEC
DDM excluding BTEC Public Services, Uniformed Services and Business Administration .

You've taken the trouble to look-up the BTEC entry requirements for your target uni and course, and it says they want DDM (which you exceed by some margin) and then name three BTECs they specifically exclude. Your BTEC is not one of those excluded.

Your BTEC subject and grades are therefore clearly acceptable.

Hey, Coventry University Student Ambassador here! 👋

At Coventry University, we recognize a wide variety of qualifications for our Business Management BA (Hons) course. Here are our entry requirements:

A level: BBB

GCSE: 5 GCSEs at grade 4 / C or above, including English and Mathematics

BTEC: DDM, with no specific subject requirements

I highly suggest attending our upcoming open days to get a feel for the environment and chat with lecturers and ambassadors like us. Best of luck!

I know my external assessment dates for my course, but if you've been through year one and could let me know what dates they gave in their last few assignments that would be great. I want to find out when the last assignment is due, the internal units I'm doing just in case are:

Unit 07: IT Systems Security and Encryption

Unit 08: Business Applications of Social Media

Unit 11: Digital Graphics and Animation

Unit 22: Systems Analysis
Any other tips for my course would also be helpful, and I'm doing the PEARSON BTEC COMPUTING LEVEL 3 NATIONAL EXTENDED DIPLOMA.

Hey @XSO

Congratulations on your grades! They're brilliant - well done! BTEC's take a lot of hard work and organisation so you should be really proud of your achievements.

What about your course made you loose interest in computing? Was it the way it was taught, or just a realisation that it's not for you?

I only ask because there are other fields you could go into, and absolutely business management is one of them! But there are also degrees such as cyber security, artificial intelligence etc. which are slightly different from computer science and are highly regarded degrees in the job market at the moment.
For instance with Cyber Security, you could go into a variety of industries, like working for a bank, or a healthcare provider, or the retail industry etc. so it's a a really variable role which would keep your future career interesting and ever changing.

Just food for thought!

The dates are decided by your centre as they need to follow an assessment plan which is based on timetabling of the teachers.
