Anxious about final results

Hi, I am an international PGT student in University Of Birmingham and am supposed to get my ratified results on 1st of July. Now, I had got an initial attendance warning on 15th of May and since then have 100% attended all of my classes (we had like 3 weeks of classes left) and also have not got any sort of further attendance warnings.
Now what I want to understand is will my attendance be looked at by board of examiners during ratification of results and will they fail me because of the attendance warning, I have got decent grades in all of my modules and am scared that I will be failed because of attendance although I haven't got any sort of further warnings since then.

Hi there 👋

I’m sorry to hear you are feeling anxious.

Does it say anything on your module guides regarding losing marks due to attendance? If not, I assume you will be fine. In most universities, your grades are reflective of your actual work rather than your attendance.

You could consider reaching out to student support, however, and asking them to provide you with some clarity and (hopefully) reassurance that it will be fine.

Best of luck with your results.

Why would they fail you? They gave you a warning, you heeded it.

Hi thankyou for your response, I don't know I get anxious over very small things so I'm thinking of worse situations happening cause I don't understand how the whole board of examiners and progression works in the first place.

Hi, no there's nothing regarding mark deduction surrounding attendance. All modules specify assessments as a part of gaining marks and grades.

Then you should be fine! Best of luck with your results

Hi, in addition to everything said above. Even if it's a fail it's not the end of the world. Just be strong regardless of the outcome 💪... You make your own path in life don't be limited by things like results or how people will perceive you

Yeah. Sometimes things can be out of our control. I wish you the best outcome but still even with money invested it is not the end of the world. I just see many people totally missing opportunities for learning and growth Bentley attach themselves to only one avenue of progression. The world is big and you are strong. I'm wishing good grades for you but regardless does be broken down if it goes south

Hi there,

I'm sorry that you are feeling anxious about your grades.

Your attendance should not be affect your grades in the sense that marks will be deducted for it unless they had specified in the guidelines. The only way which your attendance could affect your grades is due to lack of knowledge and/or understanding for the assignment. However, with that being said if you understood both the assignment and the module and kept caught up you should be fine.

As the WexhamUniReps have said I would contact your student support team about your grades and your concerns and they will be able to help. In addition I would also suggest getting in contact with you academic tutor and/or the module lead to make them aware of your concerns and that you are feeling anxious about your grades.

I hope this helps and good luck with your grades 😊

Hey, thankyou so much for your response. There's no issue with my grades I'm actually on the track to 2:1 according to my provisional marks but my only doubt is if board of examiners look at attendance records specifically for students(we have like 280 students in our course). Also the attendance warning was sent to almost 90 percent of our class but I'm still worried regardless

Hi

Congratulations with getting at 2:1. I would say go talk to your academic tutor or course lead about your concerns as they will be in a much better position than me to answer the question specifically and what your attendance means. However, from my understanding only certain courses such as medicine the attendance really matters and if almost 90% of the course got this warning that it was not just you so I would try not to worry about it too much. What course are you studying?

I hope this helps and well done again with the 2:1
