Just finished my LearnDirect course! Does anyone need help? - Access to HE

Hello!

I’ve officially finished my LearnDirect course! I studied Psychology and Criminology (social sciences) and got really good grades!

Overall I got 11/14 distinction units and 3/14 merit units.

Now I’m waiting to get my certificate in a few days time, then it’s off to uni in September.

It was really difficult in a lot of ways though.
I wish I had more support during it.

Which is why I want to offer my support to others!

If you’re doing the same course as I did (social studies - psychology and criminology), I would be more than happy to help you!

If you’re doing a different course, I can offer you general tips and answer any questions you have.

Much love!

Hi sorry for how long it took me to respond. Hopefully you’ve got it now. It took about 7/8 weeks for my certificate

Hi there, I am doing psychology with learn direct. When I called them up they said if I finish the course in my own time as quickly as I can then I’ll get my qualifications etc. I started this year in April and Ive got one module left for level 4 and I’m looking to finish level 5 all by mid September or even before tbh. I really want to try enrol for university for last year either for October intake or January intake for 2025. But when I emailed them they said I would have to be on the course for 6 months on level 4 and 6 months on level 5 and that it would take 12-16 weeks for my certificates to even be given to me after that. But I was not told any of this when I first joined. I wanted to ask how did this work for you? As I really want to get into uni and finish my degree off for either next summer or the end of next year. What happens when they are making the certificates and qualifications because I don’t understand why it would take so long!! Thank you in advance x

Did you find it hard to study in this way. The college I applied at no longer teach this as a class due to the numbers being low so it’s online study and I worry I might need the support.

To be honest, not really. But it was mostly helped by me already knowing a lot of the course information and the questions not being too helpful.

The ‘tutors’ are absolutely useless though, so if you’re uncertain about your ability to complete things along without teacher support, I’d be wary. It basically only really works if you’re super confident in your ability to self teach.

I have 17 units they recently upgraded my course which meant I had resubmitted everything from unit 1, and I’m joining uni this September, so far I’m on unit 3 and I’m paying fast track so I should be done soon for uni. I was wondering when you submit your last unit do get a email saying you finished it and would it say ur results. Or after I receive my results for my last unit which is unit17 do I count how many distinction merit and pass I have and send them to the university.?

You’re not going to be able to uni this year. The cutoff for this years marking with LearnDirect was back in July.

Hey, I’m in the exact similar situation I have been given a conditional space at my university and I am one unit away from completion, (also paying for fast track) I just want to know what do learn direct send you when you finish that last unit in terms of email or what shows up on the portal,is there any message ?
