Study books

I'm starting a journalism course in September and I was wondering what study books students in uni use for this subject. I know I'll be pretty much covering everything on the course including exams on media law. If anyone could help give me a few pointers on which books to buy I'd appreciate it? : )

What university will you be attending? The study books you require will depend entirely on the university, as different universities will have different journalism modules and hence will require different books.

I wouldn’t worry too much about getting study books in advance, any materials you require or are encouraged to use are usually mentioned during your first couple of weeks by your lecturers.

I'll be going to Gloucester, also do you think a laptop is necessary. I was thinking about getting one affordable but I have no idea where to start.
