Year 10 mocks vs gcse final grades

Hi i’m in year 10 and just got back my year 10 mock grades and i was wondering with these grades if it is possible to bump these up to all 9s at gcse.

Biology -7
Chemistry -9
Physics-7
Language-6
Literature- 7
Maths- 9
Business- 8
DT- 8

It is said that you tend to improve a grade and a half each so for your seven's and eight's you would be able to but for languages if you put more effort into it you can do it.The 1 1/2 I believe is ONLY from the work you put in from school.

Yh - a grade or so seems reasonable. Also don’t put too much pressure on yourself. In my school even the most selective sixth forms don’t need all 9s. 8s and 9s yes. It is okay to strive for perfection but remember anything can happen in exam day despite preparation - so set reasonable goals.

Yesss 100% especially considering how you are only in year 10 achieving these grades and have a long way to go with more mocks. I'd say its 100% possible if you work hard (but obviously not too hard)!! 🙂

What exams were these and what proportion of the GCSE course have you covered? It's impossible to say with certainty - what grades are your teachers predicting and what are your 'working at' grades?

It’s definitely possible, but you need to consistently work hard all year round.

Yes, but bear in mind it will make little difference when your grades are within the 7-9 range. Don’t stress

I just mean that the difference between having 7 or 9 for your final grades will not have too much influence on your life. There is some benefit for very competitive universities perhaps, but it’s not the end of the world.

You can change massively from mocks to final exams (e.g. 5 to 9 is possible)
