Can I do a level biology without GCSE chemistry

I am predicted a 7/8 in IGCSE edexcle triple biology but haven’t taken chemistry. I have exceptional circumstances (I was seriously unwell) so dropped chemistry. I love biology but would it be a bad idea to take a level without chemistry? Thanks.
I would say that there are two sides to this question really.
First off, if you’re predicted a 7/8 in Biology it’s clear that you’re bright and having hopefully got to this level despite being unwell shows you’re very hard working. In light of this, if you were willing to put in the work I think you could excel at a level Biology. Due to some of the content in a level biology having basis in GCSE Chem it might be advisable to look over some of the Chem topics relevant to Biology before starting the course. You might also have to spend more time working on these topics when studying bio a level so you understand all the content to the same level as your peers.
The other side to your question is logistical. Some sixth forms require GCSE Chemistry for you to study Bio at a level. The sixth form I hope to join in September for example requires 6 in Chemistry for their Biology course and my second choice wants students to have at a 6 in Biology and another science, so check the entry requirements of the sixth forms you have applied to/will apply to to see if you need Chem to study there. You also need to consider how much time you will have to work on the Biology content and possible gaps and weaknesses due to not having taken GCSE Chem with regards to the workload of your other subjects. What other subjects were you considering? If for example you wanted to take 4 a levels with Bio as one then this would be less feasible.
I hope this helps with your decision a little and that your health is improved, feel free to ask any more questions, I’ll be happy to help
