So my school hasn’t given many details about what actually happens at our prom (next week) but I’m confused about a few things: There is going to be food but what type is it usually - a proper sit- down meal with courses or a buffet? What do people actually do at prom? Is it ok not to have after prom plans? Everyone seems to but I haven’t got anything planned Any advice from personal experience would be helpful!

For my prom, we had a buffet meal so we could help ourselves. The food was like fancy party food if that makes sense! But, it did get very busy at the buffet very quickly, and the food ran out quickly too, so I'd suggest having something to eat before you go. Your prom could also have a sit down meal - maybe check in with your school if you can.
My prom involved taking lots and lots of pictures, there was a dance floor and DJ, my teachers have a speech or two, and then we were dancing most of the night or walking around talking to each other. It's basically just a big party.
I didn't go to an after prom party or anything like that. To be honest I was exhausted after prom! I went to McDonald's with some friends and then we headed home, and that was a great end to our night. So don't feel pressured to go to an after prom. But equally, it's another great chance to hang out with your friends.
