Feel I almost made myself a joke

I am living with another flatmate. His girlfriend is staying over these few days. This evening, I was cooking some tomato sauce and used a bit much of oil. It created fumes that triggered a false alarm. I was freaked out. They weren't here when that happened. His girlfriend came back to use the toilet after the firemen, who came to have a check, were gone. It is lucky that she wasn't here when that happened, or I would have made myself a joke.
