gcse summer

my parents are going crazy saying I have to study 4 hours a day and wake up at 9:30 when my exams literally finished 2 weeks ago. Is this normal? I studied like crazy for months and I want some slack. Idk if I am being unreasonable or if they are wrong. There are more rules too...

Hi there 👋

I’m sorry to hear that you are in this position. Have you tried to explain to your parents how you are feeling?

I think it’s highly important for you to take a break from your studies during summer, otherwise your stress levels may build and your mental well-being could decline. Maybe you could come up with some sort of compromise - such as if you study for a couple of hours in the morning, you can go out and do something fun in the afternoon.

Whilst it’s good to get a head start on your studies, I don’t think 4 hours a day is necessary. You could maybe also consider finding a part time job or volunteer/pursue an internship in an organisation that aligns with your future career goals as then you will still be learning relevant information that will help with your studies (to satisfy your parents) and also potentially earn money doing a job in a field you’re interested in.

Hope this helps a little, and best of luck with your future studies.
