Hi! I just am curious about whether there is a requirement for a guarantor in University of Essex accommodations.

For accomodation on campus you do not need a guarantor.
If you decide to rent from a private student accomodation outside the university campus you will a guarantor but usually you will use a company that acts as a guarantor.
If you decide to rent a private property like a apartment and you don't have a guarantor than you need to pay rent in advance from 6 month to 1 year.

If you rent outside the university into a private student accomodation their will recommend what guarantor they would like you to use.
When I rented in a private accommodation outside the university I payed 6 months in advance.
If you rent the university accomodation than you do not need guarantor and you can pay per term so like 3 months in advance or you can also arrange a payment plan with the accomodation team,
