Car Insurance help!!!!

Hey! So I need help getting car insurance. I’ve been looking almost everywhere for affordable prices and the best I’ve been quoted is 7k for a 2011 Fiat 500 0.9 auto and some insurers have even refused to quote me??! I’ve tried marmalade and they gave me a cheaper option but only when I cover a maximum 50% of trips or something like that …for another, I put my dad as an additional driver and yet the price remained ridiculous - i have tried almost everything even pushing back the date I want to be insured by 1 month…how can I get cheaper annual insurance (with or without B.B)?I really need to use my car atm and it seems like all hope is lost, please can anyone give me tips on how I can obtain affordable insurance (btw my address isn’t an issue because my neighbour who is younger than me and frantically owns a better car has cheaper insurance).

Try using different websites to get quotes. Also, I find parking on the street near home is cheaper than parking on driveway and try put your mom as the additional driver, insurance companies are sexist.

It's not so much that they're sexist, some just don't really consider an additional driver important since tbh most cases of it likely ARE just new drivers wanting a discount. When I added my mum my quote actually went up a little and she had a perfect record, full NCB etc.

Oh I see! Thank you! I also wanted to know, how can insurance companies tell who’s using the car by installing a black box? Am I only meant to use the BB when I drive the car only and not my “additional driver” (mum)? I’m not sure how all this works

A 2011 Fiat 500 0.9 is insurance group 10 or 11.

Try getting quotes for an insurance group 1 car, such as a 2010 Chevrolet Spark or VW Fox.
https://www.carinsurancegroups.co.uk/groups-list/

OK group 1 cars will be ultra basic and tinny little things, but they will provide you with your freedom to travel anywhere any time you want. They also tend to be good on the fuel economy and the petrol ones are ULEZ free.
Check out Group 2 and 3 cars too.

If you already own the Fiat and have to sell it, or give it to a relative for a year or two, so be it.
EG buy a Chevy Spark for £1300, plus £3000 for insurance beats using the Fiat and £7000 insurance.
Your licence does cover you for manual cars?

Get a job, such as a sales assistant or an engineer and see how that affects your quote.
You already know about adding your parents as named drivers.
Try both comprehensive and 3rd party fire and theft. Comprehensive will probably be cheaper, but it's worth checking.

Avoid black box if you possibly can. It's worth paying a few hundred extra to have no black box.
