nightlife at lancaster uni?

i went to the undergraduate open day yesterday, and i loved the course and the chill energy of the campus, the dimly lit lecture halls, and the amazing library

i feel like i could really imagine being there, but i'm worried about the nightlife at lancaster, and whether i'll get a good experience on that front
i want to go clubbing and to parties and stuff, but im also nervous that i wont be able to fall in with friends that like to do those things, too

Theres Sugarhouse, a student nightclub in the city. Then theres Vibe which is open to the general public and students, and then Generation where is the lgbtqia+ night club. Theres plenty of bars and pubs in Lancaster. My eldest was always one for the pub quiz at the pendle witch. Theres the water witch, the crafty scholar, the stonewell tap, the study room, the cornerhouse, the jailors barrel, 3 mariners, the hogarths gin palace, squires snooker and bar, greens, vino, the white cross, just to name a few. Then if you can manage the college bar crawl. Daughter and friends, she has done them but not all in one go lol .

You have vue cinema, also bowling in morecambe, and manchester by train if you fancy making a weekend out of it in a hostel. Theres also the dukes which is a theatre which does comedy shows, tribute acts. Then also Kanteena which is a bar/club/tribute acts.

In relation to making friends who like parties, it really does depend on who is in your flat. She stayed in a townhouse in grizedale. Townhouses like grizedale and county are known for their house parties because of the big group of 12 and they also have a living room area which is perfect on the socialising. Obviously it was covid restrictions back then in 2020, but it did not stop them turning their flat into a bar crawl and had many themed nights. Although she was not so much of a clubbing person, she wanted a flat that was lively, because of covid, she didnt want a quiet flat. She likes her bars best. After freshers and the work starts, you will have a balance of club/bars/nights in with friends/studying and doing assignments/societies/society socials throughout the week, so you will be kept busy.
She came from a village in Notts so Lancaster were perfect for her and what she wanted. She felt big cities like Leeds was a bit overwhelming, so having a campus uni with a decent sized city was perfect for her. Shes used to city living now, so shes off to Manchester next 🙂

Hi @varsh_xx
I'm currently in my 3rd year studying at Lancaster and have found it quite good for nightlife. Firstly, each college has their own bar, which is a good place to go with flatmates and they run different events weekly like quizzes and karaoke nights. Then in town there are 3 nightclubs, 1 of which called 'The Sugarhouse ' is ran by the students union and they usually have some good music and run lots of different theme nights. Lancaster also has a good live music scene this 'John of Gaunt' and 'Kanteena' having a range of music and 'The Pub' being mainly rock focused. There's also lots of different pubs and bars in town, with some mainly focused towards students.
Also, in terms of making friends, i'd definitely recommend societies as a great way to do this, as everyone there has a shared interest making it a great way to speak to people over a shared interest and make friends.
Hope this helps!

Hi Anon,
Nice to hear you enjoyed your visit to Lancaster! I'd certainly agree campus is like a mini town with everything you want on your doorstep, like supermarkets, lots of nice food outlets ect.
If you have any questions, that didn't get answered during the open day, feel free to ask!
