what do i need for college if i am not doing a levels?

i am going to be starting college/year 12 in september and struggling to understand what i will need for it as i am not doing 3-4 a levels like most people and that is all i can find for help when i search 😭 obviously i know it’s still early but i just want to make sure i am ready for it when it is time to get the stuff

i am doing a level 1 course in care and early years (that is what the college calls it, i am not sure on the actual name of the course but on the website it says that i’ll be awarded a ‘BTEC Level 1 Introductory Certificate in Vocational Studies’) it’s basically just childcare and heath and social care combined and then at the end of year i think it is i can choose which one to focus on and i will be picking childcare. but then i am also redoing my maths and english gcse.

so like what do i need???? i don’t have any from year 11 because i left 2 years ago but will i need stuff for maths and english too? and what should i get for the level 1 course

You should be fine getting on a level 1 course without any gcses, I did that course with 2 gcses and most of my classmates didn't have any, you'll have to resit maths and english whilst you're there. Just apply and speak to the tutors about it.

Good luck! The level 1 course isn't difficult, but the students can be a bit chaotic. Most of the ppl causing issues will drop out before the yr ends, so try to stick it out. It gets better on level 2 and 3.

thank you ! yes the only gcse i have is science (i was class 18-23) i got a 43 so if i get my maths and english then ill be able to go onto a t level at the college which is want i am wanting they just told me i have to start with the level 1 because of not having maths or english at all. i got a 3 in maths (barely😭) and i didn’t sit my english ones at all so yeah i hope you are right about a lot of people dropping out because the people at the college said the classes for level 1s are usually really big and i hateee big classes. my question was more like what do i need in terms of supplies and stuff though lol

because like i see people always say like oh get 3 diff binders/notebooks/folders etc for your 3 different a levels but obviously i am not doing a levels so i just don’t really know what supplies i need and because i am doing maths & english again

Yeah you'll just need pens, paper, maybe some colouring pencils or something because you do a lot of posters in level 1. Maybe have separate folders for maths and English too!

I would get a lot of writing pads because it can be quite a lot of writing, especially once you move up to level 2 and 3, they won't go to waste lol.

Honestly, only 4 people from my level 1 class progressed onto level 2 and 3, by the end of year in level 1 and 2 the classes were tiny lol.
