Economics or STEM at Nottingham for Investment Banking

Hi all!

Im aiming for IB and high finance careers, considered between Bsc Economics or Bsc Mathematics and Data Science at Notts.

I have interests in both econs and maths+comsci.

Here is what I know (pls correct me if im wrong):
1. Notts is a strong semi target for IB and finance fields.
2. Uni > Degree
3. Notts is famed for Economics.
4. STEM degrees showcase quantitative abilities, and with a degree like maths+data science, my opportunities exceed that of economics, whereby im able to consider finance, trading, quant roles, data science, etc, except maybe hard economic roles in academia, or pure accounting roles which i have no interest for both.

So based on what I think I know, here are my questions:
1. Is it dumb to go for anything other than econs at Notts, considering im aiming for finance/IB and notts is famed for econs?
2. Will getting finance internships be hard while im still studying and have yet to build a track record proving i have an interest in finance and business? (I have an accounting background and currently intern in a finance role though, was hoping I could leverage this but still unsure if the STEM would be too much of an obstruction)

Any thoughts/advice/rants even are all appreciated! No tldrs here, i just want all the info i can get.

Many thanks in advance
