Alternatives to University Open Days
So I work every Saturday and pretty much all university open days are on a Saturday. I know some are week days but my school won’t give me permission to take time off. I really can’t miss work as I will be missing a few shifts due to family holidays and compulsory school events already.
I went to the UCAS fair last week and one representative told me I’ll know exactly what course and uni I’ll want to go to as soon as I go to an open day. So it seems really important. But I am unable to go to any.
Does anyone have any advice of alternatives? I know there are virtual tours and stuff but I doubt that they will be as effective.
I’d really appreciate any help as I am feeling pretty lost and disheartened.

There isnt anything that will be as good as open days. You can try virtual open days but they arent quite as good. It is absolutely stupid and irresponsible of your school to act in this way. It is your future and you need to make these decisions and your school should be supporting you. Unfortunately many schools put themselves first rather than the interest of their students. You need to decide whether to miss school or work.

Many Unis have Open Day and Campus Tour films on YouTube - and you may even find some of their subject talk recordings there too. And - many Unis have guided tours that you can take at other times - check the website - or self guided tours that you could do on a Sunday etc
If you get an offer then that Uni will usually invite you to an 'Offer Holders Visit' - this is a subject focussed event and can help if you are deciding which Unis to pick as Form and Insurance, and frankly at that stage, just go, don't worry about 'school permission'.
