Lancaster college

Planning to enter lancaster this september with an undergraduate degree of drama, theatre and performance. The two closest colleges to the lancaster institute of contemporary arts are county and bowland. Fyi, im also a muslim and it looks like these two colleges are also close to the ash prayer room. I am considering one of these two colleges. Do you recommend them, if so, which one do you think i should pick? Are there anything else i should take into account? Thank you so much

Greetings. Im a malaysian muslim student looking to enter lancaster this september. Ill be taking an undergraduate degree in drama, theatre and performance. My degree will be based in the lancaster institute for the contemporary arts. From what ive observed from the campus map, it seems that county college and bowland college are the two closest accommodations from my said institute. Those colleges are also near the muslim prayer room. Shall i proceed with either of these colleges? If so, which one should i go with? Is there anything else i should take into account? Thank you so much

If im not mistaken and its not changed since my daughter did it in 2020, you have to pick 2 colleges. Then for each college an accommodation type. The accommodation portal should be open so its worth making contact and asking (should you have not had an email already), so that you can log in and make your choices. Once you have your results from your school in august, they will then send you confirmation and you will see what college you have been put into and then you pay your deposit.

Hi,
I'm a current student at Lancaster University and I just wanted to say not to worry too much about your choice of college. Campus isn't too large so regardless of where you end up everything will be a 10-15 minute walk away. You can be as much or as little involved in college life as you'd like to be, it's a great support network but definitely not the be all and end all of your university experience and there are plenty of other opportunities to meet people. I'm in Lonsdale so I can't say too much about Bowland and County. Bowland is one of the biggest colleges and has quite a range of accommodation types with varying numbers of people per flat. Some Bowland accommodation is more centrally located than County accommodation, which is a bit further away.
Hope this helps and feel free to ask if you have any more questions,

Hi!

I’m a current student at Lancaster University! All the colleges are within walking distance of each other so even if you were in the college furthest away from the Lancaster Institute of Contemporary Arts, it would only be about 15-20 minutes maximum!

You’re able to pick two preferences for college when applying for accommodation so if location is a big factor then these two would be great! Other factors to consider would be the type of room such as a townhouse, shared flat with ensuite, shared flat with shared bathroom, etc, and the cost you’re willing to pay. If you would like more information on the specific rooms and colleges, then have a look at the Lancaster University Accommodation page: https://www.lancaster.ac.uk/accommodation/undergraduate/

I hope this helps!
