can you volunteer for just the summer months?

i currently have around 3 more months of the summer holidays left and i’ve decided i want to apply to volunteer at the rspca cattery. the description states that they expect a minimum of 3-4 hours commitment per week, but don’t mention anything about how many weeks/months you should commit. i don’t know much about this as i haven't had a proper job or volunteered before so do you think they’d accept me, even if i can only commit 2/3 months?
just asking this as a volunteering opportunity from a different charity i looked at 2 years ago wanted a minimum of 6 months commitment.

The whole point of 'volunteering' is to willingly give your free time & resources to help others. Some organisations may need volunteers to work within a given timeframe due to the nature of their business but many are open to whenever the volunteer is available. There really is no hard and fast rule about it, the question is can you do the hrs asked for by the RSPCA? I'm sure they will be delighted to have someone whether that's for 3 weeks or 3 months or 1 week. That is why they have not specified timeframe! it is down to you to let them know how long you are available for.
