Mature student clearing

Hi, I got 4A* in my A levels in 2021 but due to a wide variety of circumstances (mainly mental health) I ended up not going to university. I will turn 21 in August, making me a mature student. I've been consistently self-studying university level content in my subject (maths) which I could back up in e.g. an interview

Is it possible to get into a decent uni through clearing in these circumstances? How many "early clearing" options are there for maths and what universities usually put them on?

Cheers

Hi @tellizard

I wanted to quickly reassure you that 21 is still young, and you'll find a lot of students are the same age as you.

As for your preferred universities, I strongly recommend visiting them on an Open Day or contacting admissions via telephone or email. You can ask about any early clearing options, as I am not familiar with this. A lot of universities are now having their last Open Day of this academic year, so I would be quick to check the dates.

When Clearing lines open, most universities offer places to students as long as they meet their criteria (UCAS points). Some courses require an interview, whereas others do not. Of course, better universities (red brick universities) will have limited spaces for Clearing. To refresh your memory on the whole Clearing process, which can be stressful, please have a look at our Clearing guide.

I wish you all the best and good luck!
