Graduate Entry Dentistry Tuition Fee Funding

Dear SFE,

I have recently been offered a graduate entry place at the University of Leeds. This means I will enter the course in 2nd year and take 4 years to complete my degree.

I have a previous BSc in Dental Hygiene and Therapy (3 years) from Leeds, and in 2014 I started a BSc in Pharmacology at the University of Westminster but I dropped out in the first term.

From my understanding I should be able to get some maintenance and tuition funding towards my the dentistry degree as I am aware of others who have taken the same route.

I made an application to SFE which has been approved for the maintenance loan but no tuition fee funding. As I understand things, I should be able to get a reduced tuition fee loan from SFE.

I was unable to get this matter resolved on the phone as I was told my previous degree makes me ineligible for further funding. I am aware that I will have 4 years of previous study on my record but for some reason the advisor on the phone was saying I have 5. This is incorrect and they could not advise me what the 5th year was for. I understand that I may have made an error on my application but of course I need to get this rectified.

Please could you advise me of the rules regarding graduate entry dentistry funding for the year 2024/25.

Kind regards,
Ellena

Hi there. Would you be able to confirm the full name of the course you are studying for the graduate entry? Is it full time or part time? And would the full course be 5 years long (entering 2nd year)? Thanks, Leah.
