My ex needs me but doesn’t want me?

A month ago me and my boyfriend split up because we lived and worked together so it was hard being together24/7 and he had a lack of help around the house. He would just sit and not even wash dishes, also we got a puppy together but he wasn’t taking any responsibility so I kicked him out . He started saying he didn’t want us ever back together, then 3 weeks ago he called drunk asking to stay the night due to a family altercation. Of course one thing led to another and stuff happened including him saying how he loves me still . After that he said he wanted to focus on finding another home to live in (he’s moved back in with his parents for now) and until then we’re just being friends. Again a few days ago he called again to spend time together and stayed the night. The day after (last Saturday) he called me for a chat and to go over his parents house as there was a disagreement between him and his brother - sober this time he kept saying how much he loves me, how much I mean to him and asking how I could do such a thing to him but still says how he needs me in his life but doesn’t want me until he moves out of his parents house. He keeps going for hugs and kisses, just generally trying to act like we are still in a relationship. But when we’re at work the past couple days he is just walking past me or saying hi. I’m really confused and I don’t know what any of this means, I want him back but there’s so many mixed signals.
Honestly? He's not worth it, really sorry - you should move on. It won't end well, in fact it's already doomed and damaged beyond repair. Wishing you all the very best of luck.
Just leave him and focus on yourself. He is using you. How can you not see that he is using you for his own benefit? Instead of even thinking about him for 1 second it is much more useful to focus on yourself and become the best version of yourself. The fact that he didnt even help you around the house shows he is not a man but instead a boy. I would say chase your goals not males. But if your going to chase males atleast chase men.
