imi's gyg + study tracker - time to start grinding 💪💪

i've decided to do a grow your grades thread for myself because a) really need the motivation, b) i've not seen a scottish highers gyg and c) it's a fun cutesy useful thing. it's summer right now, so the highers courses have started (trial month was in june) but only about a weeks worth of info because people will inevitably drop subjects that they've failed at school. for context, i go to a mid-ranking public school in scotland so people don't care if they fail, and the system is sm more chill and accessible for people who may fail and stuff. not gonna be me tho, hopefully.
school life:
I'm doing 5 Highers (similar to AS but higher) in Maths, English, Human Biology, Chemistry and Physics. In my National 5s (equiv to GCSES), I'm set to achieve 9 As in Maths, Eng, 3 sciences, Comp Sci, Geo, Accounting, Applied Maths.
career:
My career pathway is likely to be Medicine, and I want to study at a university in Scotland.
a bit about me tho:
- biggest bookworm since childhood, my fav genres are fantasy, crime, mystery and ya
- i loveeee kdramas (some of my favs include but not limited to: vincenzo, dr romantic, my demon, queen of tears, happiness)
- burnt out overachiever

- i'm so lazy, i've bought a lot of decor for my room but cba to set it up 😭😭
- i'm the oldest of 5 siblings
- i've lived in 3 different countries
- my fav season is autumn, and i absolutely hate the heat so this uk summer is lovely for me
- i want to learn french, and maybe later arabic
- pretty skies>>>> aka my whole camera roll
- cycling is the best imo, but i never do it 🙄
- i'm a june baby
- my fav subject at school is maths or human biology
- i love researching stuff, but never acc do it
actual studying
my fav study method is mindmapping, i love making gorg colourful mindmaps. I also love stationary and neat notes.
to study, i should:
lock my phone somewhere, i swear the summer has fuelled my addiction to it although i litros only have snap, pinterest and reddit
make a timetable
idk what else i need ideas
that's it from me for now, i'll be back tmr with an update from day 1 of studying!!

Hi @imxa6! It's exciting to see content from a Scottish pupil. I work in a school science department so very familiar with three of the courses you're taking. How're you feeling about your Higher choices after a month on the new timetable? And do you have any particular universities in mind that you want to apply to?
You sound like a very visual learner! I hope that you include some photos of your mind maps, timetable, and stationery in your updates.
As for K-dramas, have you seen Coffee Prince and You're Beautiful? I originally watched them when I was around your age and I loved them. 😀

haha so sweet to see Scottish pupils here it’s refreshing. Any tips and tricks you have will definitely be welcomed
. I actually really enjoy my Higher courses right now, surprisingly enough although many of my teachers have told me not to take 3 sciences in 5th year. My favourites are Maths and Human Bio though. Universities I would really love to get into is Uni of Edinburgh or Glasgow. And I will definitely include photos in my next updates, the idea is so cute. I haven’t seen any of those kdramas, but I will definitely check them out now, thanks for the recs . For a general update on my gyg, I haven’t actually started studying yet (been busy with other stuff) update coming tomorrow!!
