Is it smart to apply to 3 unis that need A*AA and 2 that need AAA?

I’m just did my mocks and I’m predicted A*A*A* and A* in EPQ, should the lowest uni entry requirements I apply for by AAA or should I apply to others with lower entry requirements
(I hope this makes sense)
I did the same, my choices were Oxford, UCL, KCL, Bristol and Cardiff. Put Oxford (AAA) as my firm choice and Bristol as my insurance because they made me an offer of A*AA or A*A*B. If you’re confident you can achieve your predicteds and they’re in line with mock grades then it’s unlikely you’ll get less than AAA so I’d go with the unis you really want instead of applying to a lower grade one just in case. Unless you really want the peace of mind of knowing you have a certain uni place for if everything goes badly wrong.

A couple of 'risky' choices is fine - just make sure your other choices are more realistic and that you have at least one choice well below your predicted grades.

If you are confident that you will get no lower than AAA that should be okay. You want an insurance choice in case things go wrong in the exams, but it is 3 grades lower that you mocks, so I imagine it will be fine.

Some people forget that they need unis with lower grades not just to ensure that they get offers from somewhere, but to also ensure that they have a genuine insurance choice if things don't go to plan in the exams.

Have you been working at A*/A throughout the year? I would have one a bit lower say AAB or one that you might have as an insurance.
