Degree choice to become a cardiac physiologist via STP

TL;DR: looking into being a cardiac physiologist but unsure of the degree to undertake for the STP

After completing a weeks of work experience in the cardiac outpatients ward I have realised that maybe being a cardiac physiologist might be the job for me but I’m unsure on how to get there.

I’ve heard that you could do the STP so you could specialise but the website is a bit vague with the degree requirements.

I definitely know that I don’t want to do biomed as I’ve heard from multiple people that it’s really hard to get a job with that without a placement year. I’ve looked into applied medical science degrees but I haven’t seen much information on it, so it seems quite unknown.

If I did an applied medical science or healthcare science degree then maybe a masters then would that be sufficient to apply for an STP in the future?

According to the NHS careers site:

"For STP positions in the physiological sciences (which include cardiac sciences), the most commonly accepted degrees will be in physiology, pure or applied physics, engineering, biology or human biology."

There are also cardiac physiology degrees, such as:

My daughter did sport science at Liverpool John Moores and has just finished her masters in exercise physiology, she’s applied for the STP and has accepted an offer this week. There are probably other options but I’m not sure what.
