Adult Dependency Grant Help

Hi, so I’ve just received an email from SFE asking for more information for my ADG application. Prior to this I uploaded some document for universal credit and a letter from the Occupational Health saying how I have to provide care to the adult.

The email I received has asked for 3 things and I have a few questions about each of them.

1. The financial support you gave the adult dependent over the past year

How would I even provide this? I don’t usually give a fixed amount and it’s sometimes in cash. What could I use to actually show this?

2. The adults dependent income for tax year 22/23

This seems a bit of an odd one as it’s a couple of years ago, where would I get this from? She doesn’t submit her own tax returns or anything like that

3.adult dependents expected income for 24/25

Again, where can I actually get this?

Sorry for the slew of questions and any help is appreciated.

Hi there,

Who is the Adult Dependent?

We need to see that you support them financially which is why we've requested to see proof of the support you provide to them.

We take the tax information 2 years prior to the Academic Year as it's the last fully completed tax year.

Does the Dependent work at all?

Thanks,
Ross

Hi Ross,

The dependent is my mother. I do support them financially where I can but there isn’t often too much structure to the support, I send or give money when it’s needed. I’m also not sure what I can actually give to show this.

The dependent doesn’t work at all and is unable to.

Thanks for confirming.

If you transfer her money online we can accept bank statements highlighting the transactions. As you also send cash then I'd send a cover letter with it confirming this.

If your Mother only received benefits she may potentially have a P60? Or confirmation of benefits received for the 22/23 tax year?

Thanks,
Ross

Hi Ross, okay that sounds fine. How many transactions should I show? What about items say I’ve bought or certain bills I’ve paid? Or is it just money directly sent to the dependant.

If you've paid bills for her we can take that into consideration. If possible, can you provide it for the last 12 months?

Thanks,
Ross
