Why DMU? What DMU Could Offer to You

Happy July TSR! :cool::angel:

The sun is shining (sometimes) and August feels as if it is just around the corner - which means Results Day isn't too far either! :crossedf: :biggrin:

As some of you may be thinking: is University for me? What is clearing? How do I choose my firm choice? What could this University offer to me?

We thought we'd just pop a few words and introduce ourselves... in case it's useful :colondollar:

We've recently been named the 25th best university in the country and this is with thanks to our amazing staff, students, and teams across the board striving for the best - as we try to do always! :smartass:

It also helps that Leicester has been named as one of the top five cities in the UK when it comes to having a thriving creative community. :blow:

DMU is also one of the few universities that offer Block Teaching! In many learning environments, you have to juggle different subjects at the same time with clashing deadlines, but with Block Teaching you only study one subject a time.

The university was awarded an overall Silver rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), a government-backed assessment of higher education institutions.

If you’re already thinking about placements, internships and what job you might want after uni, then our specialist careers team, DMU Works, are here to help!

This year, the DMU Careers Team has been named the best in the country. DMU beat nine other nominees to be awarded the title of Higher Education Careers Employability Team of the Year at the 2024 targetjobs National Graduate Recruitment Awards. (2024) :clap2::elefant:

With this amazing network and recognition of our hard work, it should come as no surprise that supporting our current and future students is our job!

Our university-wide approach to student wellbeing is perfectly summed up with our Healthy DMU initiative, which provides resources to help you have a healthy, happy and productive time at university and develop habits that can enrich your wellbeing for years to come!

You can access help with mental health, counselling, finance, religious facilities and resources, disability support, and a medical centre on campus.:five:

This is in addition to our Award-Winning Careers Team and our outstanding Alumni engagement team - support from DMU for life!

Being in the heart of one of the most diverse cities in the midlands, we strive for equality for all on campus and have an equality, diversity and inclusion strategy to ensure it’s a part of everything we do too. This led to us being the first university to earn a silver Race Equality Charter award for its work to improve equality and diversity, the highest rating awarded to any UK university! :heart:

And finally, with not only the general election today, but also the importance of climate action around the world, DMU has been named one of the UK's most wildlife-friendly universities and we are proud of our commitment to our sustainable development goals. We have also been lucky enough to be named quadruple award finalists at national sustainability awards too!:flower2::flower:

We hope we introduced ourselves :wink:
Any questions please do ask us,
