medicine gap year

so i’m in year 12 and my predicted grades are too low to apply for medicine this october (im predicted ABC) so i was wondering if i was to do a gap year would it mean i apply next year with my actual grades (as I know I can do much better on these) or would i still need to apply this october?
Also, is there any way I could still apply this year (so without taking a gap year) even with my predicted grades being too low.

I’m in a similar position to you. I’m going back and sitting tests and going to ask to get my predicted grades up. If I do well in UCAT then higher chance to persuade them

Have you looked at medicine with a foundation year? That’s what I applied to

Not all med schools consider predicted grades so nothing stopping you applying this year, although it might help if your pred grades were higher.

Have you booked and planned your UCAT. Do that and see how you score, it may be useful decision making tool.

The challenge is if your predicted grades are accurate. You will need to be realistic. If you qualify for any foundation courses / or have any widening participation/contextual flags that might help, that might be worth considering. Although there can sometime be a risk that predicted grades are too high !

If you apply this year and have no luck, yes, if you get AAA or higher in your A levels next year, then you will stand a good chance if you have a good UCAT of being invited to interview.

In both years it is important to apply strategically.

Congratulations on the offers! Would it be possible if you could share some tips on how you strengthened your application please? Thanks for taking the time to read this.
