Struggling to get in to University again

Hi all,

I’m struggling to get into a course, clearing day has opened and I’m getting denied on the basis of the degree I had completed in medical sciences at uclan. I achieved a third class honours and this was mainly due to the lack of lecturers being present and were off for long periods of time.

I have good a level and GCSEs grades with a* a, a in most subject however, because of my degree being a higher level I am being denied.

I don’t know what to do at this moment in time. I’m trying to apply for undergraduate bsc courses in pharmacy, diagnostic radiography or dental hygiene.

Any advice would be appreciated.

You already have an Undergrad degree, and most Unis will not give you a second chance, especially with a Third in a related subject. And how would you fund this as you will already have used up your SF entitlement.

I think you need to decide which of your three options you do want to study otherwise your application won't be convincing. For Allied Health Profession courses like diagnostic radiography and dental hygiene, unis want to see that you have shadowing experience and public facing work/volunteering experience. That might be the issue rather than your first degree.

DR and dental hygiene are exception courses when studied as a second degree so you should be eligible to apply for undergraduate funding (both tuition fee and maintenance loans).

Hi Ehsan, what particular questions do you have about Radiography? I am a Radiographer myself

You'll see me posting this everywhere, but dentistry abroad as I am doing is a great option

If you can afford about 12k euros a year, then you could pick a very good international uni in the EU that helps you skip the board exam in the uk and start life as a dentist after 5 years with a great career and income

If you need more advice let me know, i am a fourth year student in slovakia currently (dentistry)

So long as you have gcses and a levels, you're fine, they're not too hot on actual grades
