How to get tested for BPD

I feel like I have BPD. This is after research but I’m not sure how to get tested for it in the UK as an adult.

Hey! I’ve got diagnosed BPD (diagnosed aged 20).

Personally, I referred myself into a general mental health service first (in my case, it was my local Uplift). I actually didn’t know what BPD was, but they did an assessment with me and referred me on to a specialist, who had me visit a Dr to get a diagnosis.

Your best bet really is to just be raw and honest with your GP. They’re your best bet to link you to other relevant professionals. They can be super helpful if you tell them everything. And don’t be afraid to be ‘pushy’ and advocate for yourself.

If you can afford to go private, it may be worth doing that too.

But if you have a suspicion, talk to your GP and see if they can refer you on to more specialist professionals.

Happy to help if you need it <3

Hiya, I was diagnosed by a psychiatrist. I was firstly had an appointment with my gp who asked me multiple questions regarding my medical history and mental health history etc. They then decided it was right to refer me to my local Community mental health team who then, made an assessment and referred me to speak to a psychiatrist who then, did another assessment then diagnosed me with Borderline Personality Disorder, which has its very own challenges in terms of my day to day life but, I am doing much better now. If you have any other questions, Happy to listen. Take good care of yourself, you matter! ❤️
