5 years at uni worth it?

I want to study liberal arts but with my current grades my only real hope is doing a foundation year and then going into the course. The problem is I want to do a year abroad which would mean that I would be at Uni for 5 years. My logic is that a year abroad will be fun, and not feel like an extra year of studying the same way it would be in the uk. I'm also worried about being older than everyone. Can anyone let me know whether doing a year abroad would be worth it? Or if they know of any courses similar to liberal arts with easier grades.

Why do you need to take a Foundation year?
Do you mean a Year 0 course, or an International Foundation course?

The grades for any liberal arts degree are very high, from the lowest being around AAB. Judging from my performance in my year 12 mocks my grades will be lower, therefore I was thinking of doing a liberal arts foundation year at the universities i have chosen so i can still get into the course later.

You could of course, not accept your predicted grades as a given and do enough work to raise your A level grades and apply in a gap year to 'better' Unis.

Maybe even using your gap year to travel and work abroad

hi, i got into the uni of birmingham (russel group) for liberal arts (4 years including year abroad) with grades ABC whilst i was predicted A*AB (results day didn’t go as planned lol)

i spoke to the head of department regarding the year abroad and she said that students come back to the uk completely changed and better aware of the world - it sounds like a fantastic experience (i’m looking to go to japan)

it will also sound fantastic on any job application in the future
